Hey BC fans well I've been here in NZ a month now and I've extended my stay till the 30th of May.
I have been to some of the best Thoroughbred and Standardbred farms in NZ, I was in Cambridge which is a lot like Kentucky is to the US with lush rolling pastures and huge paddocks and lots of training centers for both the Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds.

Tajma Hall (J Gagne) flew around Northlands Park track to beat his old track record pacing in 1.50.3 to lead home Trust The Artist (K Hoerdt) and Raining Again (J Chappell) was 3rd.
Fraserdowns had the Stallion Stake Finals Friday night with Henderson (J Marino) 1.56.1 winning the 4 yr old C & G final ($30,000), Blessthebrokenroad (D Howald) was too strong in the 3 yr old C & G $100,000 final winning in 1.54.1, Red Star Striper (B Beelby) was just as dominant in the 3 yr old fillies division winning in 1.55.3.
The 4 yr old mares final ($30,000) was won by Tahuya Manda (B Davis) in 1.57.3 to round out the Stakes finals results.

Kia Ora! Hey I watched the weekend racing and I see Bill (The Dominator) Davis scored training and driving triples for Friday & Saturday at Fraser Downs as he continues to lead the way on the trainer/driver premierships!.
The warmer weather seems to be creating ideal conditions for some fast miles as many winners snagged new life marks!.
Warrawee Iceman 1.52.4 and Rodeo King 1.52.2.
Alberta harness racing saw Outlawindependence take out the mares Open when winner First Look was relegated to 5th causing interference in the drive for the line.
Jamie Gray has been hot lately picking up several winners along with Bill Tainsh Jr and John Chappell.
I've finally been making progress with my business endeavours here in NZ as some of my stuff was released from customs.
I was at Alexandra Park last Friday for the big Rowe Cup final for trotters over 2700 metres for a purse of $150,000 and that was followed up by the NZ Messenger final for Open pacers for the same purse of $150,000.
Excellent racing with lots of high purses on the night for the 2 & 3 yr olds as well.
This week I will be in Christchurch in the South Island for the NZ Harness Breeders Crown finals which are $250,000 purses!.
I will give you my report after the weekend racing in the deep south!!.
They have an outstanding 3yr old pacer here called Auckland Reactor who they recently sold a share to Joe Muscara in the USA and he will be racing in the states as a 4 yr old and he has an unbeaten 11 straight victories with his latest victory over the distance of 2600m he paced a 54 sec. last 800m and a 25.8 sec. last 1/4.
He has been far to good for the other 3 yr olds in NZ.
April 27th '08 on tour!
The betting in NZ has remained the same which is good where when you bet $1 to win you get paid on the tote odds for your bet so if the win is paying $3 you get $3 for your $1 bet.
Now if you bet $2 for the win you get paid double the win amount which in the previous example means you'd get $6.
If you bet $3 to win you recieve 3 times the win total which in our previous example you'd recieve $9.
This is also the same for quinella, trifecta and your daily double bets!.
The betting returns are still pretty decent as well.
Hey it's great to see my driver Billy (The Kid) Davis Jr. score aboard Dillens Promise continuing a great rookie season.
I'll have him aboard another of my horses soon!!.

Mario Gutierrez and Dave Wilson have begun the season as they left off last season 1st/2nd on the Jockeys table after day one which may well be the same as at season end?.
It was a successful opening day at Hastings Park and as I am watching from afar I did make comparisons between racing down under and in Western Canada,
I attended the Avondale Jockey Club Anzac Day meet at the Avondale Racetrack which had a pair of $100,000 features which was held on a sunny day and a crowd of about 7,000.
I was a little disapointed in the state of the facilities as it appeared that little maintenance had been done there since I was last there 20 yrs ago.
But I did enjoy the racing and I was looked after in the members stand and treated to meat pies and fish and chips!.
There is a big meet at Ellerslie next weekend and it should be a great day.
