The $25,000 Stallion Stakes final for 4yr old mares was a clean sweep for the owners/trainer & driver as Millbanks Ariel (J Marino) held out Oil Town Amelia to win the co-feature in 1.55.3 for owners JJJ Stables and trainer Ty O'Neil and driver Jim 'The Moneyman' Marino scoring a natural hatrick with the 2 feature races and a conditioned pace sandwiched in between.
Tonights big feature the $75,000 BC Sires Stakes final for 3yr old C & G saw trainer Rick White with 4 entries in the race and it was Hector Protector (G White) who prevailed in a 1.54.3 mile beating home stablemate Gotta Have Nukes (R White) with Steve O (J Marino) getting the 3rd money.
Owners David & Freda Woolley would have been all smiles with the win enjoying some good success these past 2 seasons.
Steve O set the early fractions with Gotta Have Nukes and the other Rick White entries racing handy to the pace and on the home turn Gotta Have Nukes moved off the cones to challenge but down the stretch Glen White had Hector Protector in full flight and closing hard to win by a half length for the win!.

Former top jockey at Hastings Park of the past few seasons Mario Gutierez had ventured south this season to try his luck on the Santa Anita thoroughbred circuit and I'm sure like many jockeys he'd had dreams of riding in and even perhaps winning one of the premier races in the world.
Well Mario realized that dream today aboard I'll Have Another a 13 to 1 shot winning in his first attempt in Americas premier grade 1 thoroughbred race the Kentucky Derby.
I'm sure their will be a few bubblies dispatched tonight along with some Tequila both at Hastings Park and in Kentucky tonight.
This is what movies are made from and we at the journal congratulate Mario and his connections for adding a BC content in this great race.
